What are interest rates doing?

 Fred started his financial career as a stockbroker trainee in the mid 90s at Prudential Securities in NYC.  After passing the Series 7, 63, 65 and state insurance licenses, Fred started his career as a licensed financial advisor at a Prudential Securities office in Monmouth County, NJ, where he started a family.  After several years the practice shifted to a focus on corporate retirement plan consulting.  The practice grew quickly thanks to an evolving retirement plan market that moved away from pensions toward defined contribution plans, better known as 401(k) plans. Fred left the practice to his partner and joined Prudential Retirement Services to market investment and recordkeeping services in NY, NJ & PA.  After nearly a decade at Prudential, Fred left to start Spreen & Co in 2002, where he grew a mortgage and investment business to over 20 employees, until the great recession in 2008, when Fred sold his business and returned to the institutional retirement plan business.  Wells Fargo relocated Fred to Chicago to run the midwest regional sales effort for Wells Fargo Institutional Retirement & Trust.  Fred continued writing his FredCast blog about interest rates and the economy for the mortgage broker community, helping brokers decide when to "lock-in" rates for clients.  After six years in Chicago, Fred's desire to get back to the East Coast came to fruition when NYLIM hired Fred to run the DCIO effort from Maine to Florida in 2013.  In 2016, Fred was promoted to NYLIM's Stable Value Investments division responsible for sales and service for 19 states and over $3 Billion in assets.
